When I was commissioned as an officer in the U.S.Marine Corps, I swore the following oath in 1964:
"I, William J. Spriggs, having been
appointed an officer in the Marine Corps of the United States, do solemnly
swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United
States against all enemies, foreign or domestic, that I will bear true faith
and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any
mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully
discharge the duties of the office upon which I am about to enter; So help me
God."
Once a Marine, always a Marine. The oath is forever. Now, I must honor it in these days of national crisis by fighting to preserve democracy..,
