THE HEART CAN SING

Heart Can Sing

(For the Merrill Gardens Chorus, and for Laura, who lifts us all)

They are not angels, no halos, no wings,
Just residents gathered, with voices that bring
A tremor of joy, a glimmer of grace,
And smiles that light up this hallowed place.

Their notes may wobble, their pitch may stray,
But heart outshines perfection any day.
For every song they dare to try,
Brings music that makes the spirit fly.

Laura stands steady, her hands in command,
A gentle magician with rhythm at hand.
She coaxes from mortals a heavenly sound,
Where laughter and love are perfectly bound.

July’s grand concert, how proud we all were,
Applause like thunder, emotion a blur.
The crowd was moved not by flawless tone,
But by courage and care, they made their own.

For when this chorus begins to sing,
It’s not about notes—it’s everything.
It’s friendship, devotion, and joy taking wing,
Proof eternal: the heart can sing.

So let others chase the perfect score,
We’ll take the song that means much more.
Here at Merrill Gardens, we’ve learned this thing—
You don’t need angels when hearts can sing.
