In July 2024, we issued a grave warning about the dangers of Project 2025, a reactionary, revolutionary manifesto crafted by the Heritage Foundation. The manifesto, exceeding 900 pages, was adopted wholeheartedly by Donald Trump and his allies. It represents an unprecedented rollback of progress, dragging America back to an era reminiscent of medieval times. Our warnings were largely ignored. It wasn’t until President Biden raised the alarm just before the election that the nation began to pay attention.

Now, in January 2025, the warnings have become a reality. Several provisions of this ominous blueprint have already been implemented. This is only the beginning. Trump and his operatives are dead serious about enacting every aspect of Project 2025, and the American public must prepare for the catastrophic consequences that will follow if this agenda is fully realized.

Some Key Points of Project 2025

The Project 2025 document outlines a sweeping plan to dismantle the current American administrative framework and install an authoritarian model. Below are some of its most troubling provisions:

1. Politicizing the Federal Workforce: Replace career civil servants with loyalists aligned with Trump’s ideology, effectively ending the concept of a non-partisan government workforce.
2. Eliminating Federal Agencies: Proposals to abolish or drastically weaken agencies like the Department of Education, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and others, crippling federal oversight and regulation.
3. Curtailing Civil Liberties: Empower law enforcement agencies to expand surveillance and limit free speech under the guise of "public safety."
4. Rolling Back Environmental Protections: Eliminate regulations that address climate change, pollution, and renewable energy, prioritizing fossil fuels over sustainable solutions.
5. Weakening Social Programs: Slash funding for Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and other safety net programs to push for privatization.
6. Restricting Reproductive Rights: Codify a national abortion ban and roll back access to contraceptives.
7. Suppressing Voting Rights: Enact laws to suppress voter turnout, particularly targeting marginalized communities through gerrymandering, ID laws, and reduced voting access.
8. Expanding Executive Power: Redefine the balance of power by shifting unprecedented authority to the President, bypassing Congressional checks and balances.
9. Promoting Christian Nationalism: Advance policies blending government with Christian nationalist ideology, eroding the separation of church and state.
10. Undermining Public Education: Defund public schools, promote charter schools and vouchers, and prioritize curricula that emphasize conservative values.
11. Tax Cuts for the Wealthy: Implement flat tax policies and other measures that benefit billionaires and corporations disproportionately.
12. Restricting Immigration: Severely limit legal immigration and implement draconian measures against undocumented immigrants.
13. Privatizing Infrastructure and Services: Turn public infrastructure and essential services over to private entities, leading to higher costs and reduced access for ordinary citizens.
14. Weaponizing the Justice System: Use the Department of Justice to target political opponents while shielding allies from accountability.

A Call to Resistance

The implementation of Project 2025 must not go unchallenged. Lawyers, activists, and the public must rise to meet this existential threat. The first line of defense lies in the courts. A coordinated legal battle must be launched immediately to secure injunctions and delay the implementation of the most harmful provisions. While we cannot underestimate the likelihood of the Supreme Court siding with Trump, these delays can buy precious time for public awareness to grow and for mobilizing Congressional action.

Simultaneously, we must pressure Congress to intervene. This is not just a call to Democrats—it is an urgent plea to Republicans who have either deserted the party or who remain deeply concerned about the destructive implications of Trump’s agenda. The phrase "Make America Great Again" has been revealed as a euphemism for a return to 19th-century policies and values, a step backward that cannot be allowed to define our future.

Project 2025 is revolutionary in its scope and reactionary in its intent. If fully implemented, it will throw the country into a tailspin from which it may never recover. The American experiment, rooted in the ideals of liberty, equality, and progress, faces a dire threat. The time for complacency is over.
